RE-ELECT JOE GARCIA MAYOR OF PATTISON

 Let's Keep Moving Forward.

Welcome: Welcome

WELCOME

I am PROUD to live in our rural, rustic City of Pattison. As your mayor, I have worked hard to move our community forward. I am opposed to a "Do Nothing Government".

I invite you to visit my website and read our City of Pattison Comprehensive Plan. In June 2019, we established a Pattison Planning Committee. In November 2020, we hired the EHRA Professional Planning Team to work with our community in preparing a 2021-2031 Pattison Comprehensive Plan which can serve as a guide for responsible growth, sustainability and economic opportunity in our rural community.

In February 2021, we established a Park Board and appointed some citizen volunteers. In 2021, we worked with Royal ISD to secure an interlocal agreement to work together to improve the Royal Admin site park area.

I realize that our streets need attention. As Mayor, I have worked with our council to improve several of our streets- Avenue E,F,J, Durkin Road and some of Avenue I.  In addition, hundreds of potholes have been patched. We still have streets to resurface and improve- this takes time with our limited budget. Transportation and mobility will require that we work with TX DOT, Waller County and our community partners for both long term and more immediate solutions.

Our drainage needs our continued attention. On our limited budget, we have completed some drainage projects, and we have plans to improve drainage as our budget allows. We are working to find grant opportunities for drainage improvements.

As Mayor, I am proud to say that in November we purchased property from Waller County for a city hall in our downtown area. I am working with council to remodel the building so that we can have a place that is ADA compliant and designed for municipal operations. Since 1972 when our citizens voted to form a city, our elected officials frequently discussed the need for a city hall. As your mayor, I am proud to say I was able to sign the paperwork for this purchase.

I believe that we must be resourceful and responsible with our public funds. In 2021, we obtained a $45,000 grant from TCEQ and HGAC for solid waste collection. We organized a successful hazardous collection event and collected thousands of tires and other hazardous chemicals. We applied for and will receive another solid waste grant of $50,000. We are now planning our second solid waste collection in the spring. In 2021, we applied for a $350,000 Community Block Development Grant to improve our PWSC water system and install additional fire hydrants. We were recently notified that our grant request was approved. We are currently working on a hazardous mitigation grant.

Let's not stop here. Let's Keep Moving Forward.
