I KEEP MY WORD.

While in office as Mayor, I have worked hard to keep my word. Here are some of the issues that I have addressed.

Accomplishments: Issues

CITY WEBSITE CREATED

Communication is important to me and has been a goal of mine since I entered office in 2016. Pattison retained professional services to create an expectational website for all of our citizens to access and use. On the website, you will find information about the great city of Pattison, elected officials, city council meeting minutes and agendas and community services. Additionally, you will find information regarding emergency management information, elections, business, events, Pattison's history and so much more. Check out our Pattison website at Pattison.Texas.Gov.

CITY OF PATTISON COMPREHENSIVE PLAN CREATED AND ADOPTED

In June of 2019, we (Mayor and City Council) established a Pattison Planning Commission. In November 2020, we hired the EHRA Professional Planning Team to work with our community in preparing a 2021-2031 Pattison Comprehensive Plan. This plan serves to identify a framework for Pattison's vision and goals. It also can serve as a guide for responsible growth, sustainability and economic opportunity in our rural community.  I intend to make this plan the basis for future grant applications that could help revitalize downtown and aid in planning with TxDOT. Members of the community were involved in each stage of the of the comprehensive planning process. Focus groups, surveys and more were used to collect feedback from the citizens. A copy of the comprehensive plan can be found at Pattison.Texas.Gov.

DRAINAGE AND STREETS BEING ADDRESSED

Proper drainage is crucial. I have been working hard to address the drainage issues in Pattison.  As our city and population continues to build and expand, drainage and flood control systems need to addressed. Several grants have already been awarded to focus on the master drainage plan. Currently, inner local agreements are in the works with Waller County. This is a important issue that will continue to be addressed and focused on. We rely on the streets of Pattison to get us where we need to go. It important that they are safe and accessible for travel. Although this issue is an ongoing goal for me, progress has already been made. Four streets have been resurfaced. Lots of potholes have been filled and will continue to be monitored and filled as needed. We have a long way to go so let's keep moving forward to continue on this path of address drainage and our streets.

CLEANING UP PATTISON

I believe keeping Pattison clean and safe is important. Therefore, I have helped organize and facilitate efforts to do just that. Volunteers cleaned up trash and debris near Bell Bottom Creek in Pattison in May of 2021. Volunteers, including members of the Royal High School Marine JROTC, pitched in and picked up a 20-yard roll-off dumpster full of trash, including 24 tires. The weight of the trash is estimated to be several tons. The cleanup took place at four locations identified as litter hotspots in the community. The City added the sites to the Trash Free Texas Adopt-A-Spot map and is working to get them adopted by local groups. I learned about the Trash Free Texas program at the Partners in Litter Prevention’s annual Trash Summit, and quickly worked to learn how to get the City of Pattison involved. The City’s addition as a Trash Free Texas Partner complements many efforts to keep their city “trash free.” The City of Pattison hosted a second trash event for residents. This event provided residents from Pattison and Waller County an opportunity to drop off household hazardous waste at the Pattison Area Volunteer Fire Department. I believe that we must be resourceful and responsible with our public funds. In 2021, we obtained a $45,000 grant from TCEQ and HGAC for Solid Waste Collection. We organized a successful hazardous collection event and collected lots of used tires and other hazardous chemicals. We applied for an will receive another solid waste grant of $50,000. We are now planning our second solid waste collection this spring. Let's keep moving forward and continue cleaning up Pattison!
